Boomkat Product Review:
A re-issue of a superb album by one of todays most prolific and god-like producers. The Around the House triple LP combines Dani Siciliano's voice, Phil Parnells tender piano and Matthew Herberts samples, wizardry and unique production skills. Compiling tracks from various 12's that have appeared from the web of labels that Matthew has built up. If you havent heard Herbert, you must live in a cupboard, in the dark, with no sound or light, as he has graced many a genre and dancefloor, café, etc, his live shows are on-the-spot lessons in sampling, smashing glasses, creating a loop (and in the case of a tokyo gig slicing his hand open while trying to sample a smashed bottle on stage!). Tracks such as 'Bedroom Jazz', 'In the Kitchen' and 'So now' show an amazing breadth of styles, and the album is one way of getting some seriously good Herbert tracks all in one place. If you like house, or even if you don't, do yourself a favour and buy a record that will sound astonishing in 20 years time. Unique and the epitome of Genius.
